Course Outline and Key Objectives:

Outline:  An approach covering first aid in the workplace specifically covering first aid provision relating to young people.

To provide candidates with the skills, knowledge and competence to deal with accidents / illnesses relating to young people in the workplace.

  • Aims and principles of first aid
  • Care of the unconscious casualty
  • Resuscitation including CPR
  • Control of bleeding and minor wounds
  • Shock, Diabetes, Asthma, Epilepsy, Meningitis, Choking, Poisoning, Eye injuries, Burns & Scalds, Head Injuries, Spinal injuries, Fractures, Dislocations, Sprains and strains
  • Recognition of illness & injury
  • Record keeping
  • Contents of first aid box
  • Legal requirements
